This is one of the most common faults reported to our UK support office.
The symptoms are that AlphaEDIT will open without any problem, but the Module (eg. Advanced Mill) will not open. A message appears stating that there is a fault in the .exe file (eg. Amillaps.exe) and that the MFC42.DLL file could not be found.
This file specifically remembers the latest button bar configuration and you can fix this problem using the Registry Editor. Be aware that incorrect use of the Registry Editor may damage you PC beyond repair (ie. Format C: and start again !) if you do not follow the correction sequence exactly. You are advised to make a full backup of your system before completing the following sequence.
Close all applications
"Start" Button
"Run"
Type "Regedit" [OK]
The Registry Editor opens.
It will appear very similar to Explorer.
You must find the following path by expanding the folders (click the "+" symbol next to the folder icon)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software >LicomSystems
In this folder you will see subfolders relating to the AlphaCAM modules as follows...
ACADAPS (alphaCAD)
ADIEAPS (Advanced Diecut)
ALASEAPS (Advanced Laser)
am3axaps (Advanced 3D 3-axis Mill)
am5axaps (Advanced 3D 5-axis Mill)
AMILLAPS (Advanced Mill)
APUNCAPS (Advanced Punch)
ar5axaps (Advanced 3D 5-axis Router)
AROUTAPS (Advanced Router)
ATURNAPS (Advanced Lathe)
AWIRAPS (Advanced Wire)
BENGRAPS (Basic Engrave)
BMILLAPS (Basic Mill/Router)
BTURNAPS (Basic Lathe)
NEST (Nesting)
SMILLAPS (Standard Mill)
SROUTAPS (Standard Router)
STURNAPS (Standard Lathe)
Simply click onto the folder relevant to your Module and delete this folder.
Now close down the Registry Editor and Open your AlphaCAM Module.
It will now open. You will notice that the buttons bars are configured for their default configuration.
