The following is an introduction to setting up your account and using the web-based Account Management options in AlphaCAM OnLine. It is a step-by-step guide to setting up a customer account, adding credit to your account, and viewing and changing your details.
Your normal AlphaCAM CD (from May 2001) includes OnLine versions of all the AlphaCAM modules.
Run Setup from your CD and when asked to select which protection system you are using (DK2 or HASP key etc) select OnLine (via Internet).
You can install OnLine modules in the same folder as your normal (key protected) modules if you wish (e.g. Alpha01). You do not have to match the OnLine modules with your normal modules - you can have normal Standard Mill AlphaCAM and install Basic, Standard, Advanced Mill and/or some Lathe OnLine modules, then can select which of them to use to suit the job to be done. You can install OnLine modules on as many computers as you want, for example at home, to use at weekends for rush jobs.
Before you can use OnLine, you must set up an account. One account can be used from any computer - you do not need a separate account for each computer.
IMPORTANT: If you operate behind a firewall (speak to your System Administrator if you are unsure), you will need to open two TCP ports - 3316 and 3317 - for outgoing connections. There are never any connections coming from the Licom servers to you. This will not affect the security of your network. Incoming traffic need not be permitted. AlphaCAM OnLine will operate through proxies using SOCKS 4 or 4a authentication protocols.
The first stage is for the OnLine Administrator for your company (which could be you) to request an account. This can be done directly via the Licom Web Site or by requesting your AlphaCAM Distributor to do it for you.
Having set up your account, you will need to add credit, either by credit card or by company purchase order (see below). You can use either of these methods, but be aware that if you pay by credit card, your account is credited immediately (subject to acceptance), whereas company purchase orders must be cleared by your distributor.
REMEMBER: Your AlphaCAM OnLine account must be enabled by your distributor before you can use it.
Notes:
AlphaCAM OnLine's working currency is the US Dollar, but you manage your account using one of four available currencies: Dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling, or Japanese Yen. These are the four settlement currencies available when adding credit to your account by credit card. The exchange rate is updated daily and is provided by WorldPay. For this reason, prices may fluctuate slightly from day to day as the exchange rates change.
Credit card transactions take place over a secure connection through WorldPay - a third party credit card company with a proven track record for e-commerce security. No credit card details are kept by Licom. Your account is credited immediately on acceptance of your credit card details.
Notes:
You do not need a separate account for each module, and you can run as many simultaneous copies of AlphaCAM as you like on your computer. One account number works for all OnLine module.
AlphaCAM OnLine works identically to normal AlphaCAM, but requires no dongle instead, it requires you to log-in once at the start of a session. Click on a module to launch the appropriate OnLine version of the module.
Occasionally you may see a message saying that an update is being downloaded. This is not an update of the module being used. To update your OnLine modules you must update your AlphaCAM CD as normal. Contact your Distributor about this.
You can hide the AlphaCAM OnLine status window by clicking on the minimize button (the minus sign on the top right hand side of the status window). To show the status window, double-click on the AlphaCAM OnLine logo button in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen.
